Voulez vous créer une fleur qui capte l'attention et qui est très facile à fabriquer?
Oui? Super!

Nous allons avoir besoin d'une colle à prise rapide, un brad, un cercle et un tas de petits cœurs poinçonnés. (les miens ont environ 2cm et j'ai utilisé la collection Cosmo Cricket Pixie-Licious)

Would you like to create a flower that is attention grabbing and super easy?

Yes? Great!

We'll need some quick drying liquid adhesive like Zip Dry, a covered brad, a rough cut circle, and a bunch of punched out hearts (Mine are about 2cm in size and I used the Pixie-licious paper by Cosmo Cricket that is at the shop.)

Couvrez le rebord du cercle avec de la colle et collez vos petits coeurs.

Run a bead of glue around the edge of the rough cut circle.
Lay the hearts on the glue and over lap them slightly.

Répetez le cercle de cœurs en allant vers le centre de la fleur.

Repeat the circles of hearts while working yourself down to the center of the flower.

Ajoutez le brad (brad recouvert avec le système I-Top) et voilà c'est fini!

Add the covered brad to the center of the flower and there you have it!

Frugal Fridays with Lorena - Dye ink, pigment ink and solvent inks

Est-ce que vous vous êtes déjà demandé la différence entre les sortes d'encres et ce à quoi elles servent?

Il y a trois grandes sortes d'encres:

"Dye ink"; soluble à l'eau cette encre se dilue lorsqu'on y ajoute de l'eau. Un bon exemple, les encres Distress de Tim Holtz.

Encre à pigments; un encre à pigments est aussi affecté par l'eau mais pas au même degré. Les couleurs sont souvent plus riches et intenses. J'utilise souvent une encre à pigment blanche pour mes ombres sur mes projets.

Encre à solvant; les encres à solvant ne se diluent pas à l'eau, elles sont donc idéales pour utiliser avec l'aquarelle. La Staz-on est souvent la plus connue.

Have you ever wondered what the different types of inks available are and what the differences are and how they are to be used?

There are three basic types of inks:

Dye inks = water soluble inks, these inks will bleed when water is added. A good example of these are Tim Holtz distress ink.

Pigment inks = a pigment ink is also affected by water, but not to the same degree as a dye ink. A pigment ink is much thicker. You may find a richer colour in a pigment ink, or for stamping. I use a white ink in a pigment ink all the time for shadows and accents on my pages.

Solvent ink = a solvent ink will not bleed at all with water, this ink is best when you are going to use water colours on top of it. A good example of this would be Staz On.

Ici j'ai étampé une image avec de l'encre à solvant (noire) et j'ai utilisé les "dye inks" à la manière aquarelle pour colorer les fleurs et les feuilles. J'ai pris 4 couleurs différentes pour cette image.

Here I have stamped an image with a solvent ink (black) and used dye inks to water colour the flower and leaves. I have used four different colours in this image.

Ici j'ai utilisé une "dye ink" pour les arbres et l'encrage du bord, une encre à solvent pour le texte et finalement une encre à pigment pour les flocons. (on le voit à peine, c'est très subtile!)

Here I have used a dye ink for the green trees and the red distressing, a solvent ink for the "To, From" and a pigment ink for the snowflake. (I know you can barely see the snowflake - it's subtle OK ;o)

Un petit arbre en rubans! Tout simple et tout beau!

Hi girls! A little ribbons tree! Cute and simple!

Prenez un cône de styromousse. Coupez vous des rubans de 2".

Take a styrofoam cone. Cut a lot of 2" ribbons.

On pli les rubans en 2 et on fixe avec des épingles.

Fold in two the ribbons and fix it with needles.

Alternez les couleurs en montant d'un pouce à chaque étage.

Alternate the colors while you going up one inch at each layer.

Ajouter un décor dans le haut.

Add an embelishment on the top.

C'est fini!

It's finish!

J'ai décidé d'utiliser la superbe collection Eskimo Kisses de Basic Grey. J'adore le faux fini bois rouge.

I've decide to use the amazing collection Eskimo Kisses from Basic Grey. I love the red woodgrain.

J'ai à la maison des dizaines de papiers comme cela, alors j'ai décidé de les utiliser.

Hi girls! An other tree tutorial. I own a lot of these kraft paper so I decide to use it

J'ai coupé tout ces papiers à 1" de large par 2".

I've cut all the paper at 1" x 2".

Je les ai roulé et broché de cette manière.

I've roll and fix them like that.

J'ai obtenu tout cela... Et j'ai finalement décidé d'ajouter aussi des rouges.

I've got all this... And finally decide to add some red ones.

J'ai pris un cône de papier mâché et j'ai ajouté 4 lanières de dentelles.

I've take a cone and add 4 strip of lace.

J'ai ensuite recouvert entièrement le cône de papier collant 2 cotés.

Next I covert all the cone with double sided tape.

J'ai commencé à coller mes petits rouleaux. Ils doivent être serrés.

I've began to glue my rolls. They must be tight.

Voici un coté de fait.

Here's one side done.

Une fois fini je l'ai aspergé de Glimmer Mist doré.

Once It's done I've spray gold Glimmer Mist.

Et voilà, c'est fini!

It's finish!

Un tutoriel très court, très facile et très beau! Quoi demander de plus? Commencez par couper 3 cercles imparfaits dans du tissus. J'ai pris du tissus simili satin, c'est celui qui fonctionne le mieux.

Hi girls! Today a tutorial, really short, really easy and really great! What else to ask? Start with 3 imperfects circles. I've take simili satin, It work really well.

Tenez simplement votre tissus au dessus d'une flamme.

Simply hold your piece of fabric on the top of a flame.

Le tissu va fondre.

The fabric will melt.

Faites tenir les 3 épaisseurs avec un brad.

Punch a hole and put a brad to hold the 3 layers togethers.

Un album Joie! (joy) J'ai utilisé une tonne de produits Prima du magasin et une fleur Sandylion. J'ai planifié d'y mettre les moments de joies que j'ai pris au hasard dans ma vie.

A Joy Album! I used a bunch of Prima goodies from the store and a Sandylion flower as well. I plan to record the moments of Joy that randomly happen in life.

Un petit tutoriel avec des matériaux recyclés...

On commence avec un coin de moulure dans lequel on va percer un trou.

Hi girls! A quick tutorial with reusable stuff. I began with a moulding corner in which one we'll punch a hole.

On insère une aiguille à tricot.

Insert a knitting needle.

J'ai recouvert ma pièce de bois de peinture brillante argent.

I cover my wood piece with silver paint.

Ajoutez du feutre ou foam pour ne pas grafigner vos meubles.

Don't forget to put some felt or foam to doesn't scratch your furniture.

Maintenant coupez des carrés de papiers journal. 6", 5,5" 5", 4,5", 4", 3,5" 3", 2,5", 2", 1,5", 1" . Environ 60 papiers de chaque grandeur.

Now cut square paper from the newspapers. 6", 5,5" 5", 4,5", 4", 3,5" 3", 2,5", 2", 1,5", 1". About 60 squares of each size.

Coupez vous 3 carrés de 6" dans du carton solide.

Cut 3 6" square in a solid cardstock.

Pour trouvez le centre tracez des lignes à partir de chaque coins. Enfoncez vos cartons sur l'aiguille.

To find the center trace an oblic line from the corner. Insert your cardstock on the needle.

Séparez vos piles en trois, trouvez le centre et insérez les piles sur l'aiguille en commençant par les plus grands. Tournez les afin d'obtenir une étoile.

Separate your piles in three, find the center and insert your papers on the needle by beginning by the bigger one. Turn the paper to get a kind of star.

Prenez un vaporisateur à adhésif, on asperge et on met du brillant.

Take a glue spray to spray it and add some glitters.

J'ai ajouté une petite boucle.

I add a ribbon bow.

J'ai poinçonné 2 étoiles que j'ai collé de chaque coté de l'aiguille.

I've punch 2 stars then I glue them on the two sides of the needle.

Et voila!

Un autre tutoriel, aujourd'hui des banderoles de Noël.

On commence par tailler 4 triangles dans un carton assez solide. (Ici 4 car mon mot comporte 4 lettres)

Hi girls! Another tutorial, today I make Christmas streamers. I started by cutting 4 triangles in a solid cardstock. (4 triangles here because my word has 4 letters)

Ajoutez du ruban double face sur 2 cotés du triangle et retirez la protection.

Add double sided tape on 2 sides of the triangle and remove the protection.

J'ai ajouté de la dentelle. Ce sera une banderole très vintage.

I add some lace, It will be a vintage streamer.

De l'autre coté j'ai ajouté un bâton de bois afin que mon triangle ne pli ou se courbe.

I add a woodstick to prevent the cardstock to curve or fold.

Sur 2 des triangles j'ai percé des trous avec mon Crop-A-Dile.

On 2 triangles I've punch a hole with my Crop-A-Dile tool.

J'ai posé des œillets, ajouté des pompons, fourniture de couture.

I've put eyelets, add pompoms taken on my sewing stuff.

Prenez une feuille et faites des lignes de plis à tout les .5" après coupez votre feuille en 4 pièces de 3"x12".

Take a pattern paper and make somes fold lines each .5". Then cut into 4 pieces of 3" by 12".

Maintenant on pli d'un coté et de l'autre en accordéon.

Now fold your paper one side and other like accordion.

Pliez comme ceci. Utilisez un adhésif puissant.

Fold this way. Use a strong adhesive.

Prenez vous 4 napperons de ce style la. On sali les bords, on ajoute du Glimmer Mist.

Take 4 doily in this style. Distress with ink and add Glimmer Mist.

On colle les napperons sur les triangles.

Glue the doily on the triangles.

Ajoutez un ruban double face dans le haut.

Add a double sided tape on the top.

Ajoutez vos éventails.

Add your fans.

Un petit aperçu.

A little look.

Faites 4 belles boucles.

Make 4 ribbon bows.

Collez votre boucle dans le haut de votre triangle.

Glue your ribbon bow on the top of your triangle.

J'ai embossé en or mon lettrage et ajouté de l'encre distress.

I emboss in gold my letters and spray some liquid ink.

Fixez vos lettres.

Glue your letters.

Enfin fini!

At last! It's finish!

J'aime beaucoup créer des cadeaux maison pour les gens que j'aime pour offrir à Noël. De toute façon certaines personnes, je ne sais jamais quoi leur offrir. Donc dans ces moment là je préfère offrir des cartes cadeaux, ainsi ils peuvent s'offrir ce qu'ils veulent.

Donc voici une très belle carte à laquelle j'ai donné un look de portefeuille, qui contient une carte cadeaux.

I love to create my own handmade gifts for my loved ones at Christmas time. However there are some you just don't know what to make for. That's when I give gift cards so that they can buy what they would like!

So, here is a beautiful gift card holder that I designed to look like a wallet.

J'ai utilisé ma Big Shot afin d'embosser et de donner un aspect cuir à un papier blanc. (8,5" x 4,5") Une fois plié c'est presque un carré.

I used my Big Shot to dry emboss a leather grain onto some white paper (8 1/2 x 4 1/2) so when it is folded it is almost square.

J'ai ensuite utilisé 2 sortes d'encrse Distress pour donner un aspect de cuir usé.

I then used two different colours of distress ink to give it a worn leather look.

J'ai couvert le papier entièrement de poudre à embosser claire et ensuite j'ai chauffé afin de donner de la brillance.

I covered the whole paper with clear heat embossing powder and heated it to give a very shiny look to it.

J'ai coupé des bandes de papiers de différentes tailles pour faire les pochettes qui vont tenir les cartes.

I cut strips of paper of different heights for pockets to hold the gift cards.

J'ai cousu à la main les bordures pour un aspect plus authentique.

I hand stitched the edges for a more authentic look.

Finalement j'ai ajouté un ruban une fermeture en boucle.

Added a ribbon and 'hitch ball' closure.

Aujourd'hui un autre tutoriel de couronne de papiers, mais d'un autre genre!

Dans une feuille de chipboard coupez vous une couronne comme celle ci.

Hi girls! Today a tutorial of paper wreath but a different one! In a chipboard sheet, cut a wreath like this.

Prenez vos vieilles retailles de papiers et taillez vous des formes "scallop" de toutes les tailles.

Take all your scraps of paper and cut a lot of scallop in all size.

Maintenant vous devez chiffonner tout vos morceaux de papiers. Ensuite on les déplient.

Now crumple all your pieces of papers. After it's done unfold them.

Commencez à couvrir votre couronne avec vos papiers.

Start to cover your wreath with the scallops.

Pour les parties ou on voit encore la couronne de fond pliez des morceaux afin de donner du volume.

Fill the empty spaces with folded pieces of paper. It will give your wreath some volume.

Voici de quoi à l'air la couronne.

Take a look at the wreath when it's almost done.

Superposez plusieurs papiers jusqu'à ce que le résultat vous convienne.

Superimpose many layers of paper until you like the result.

Ajoutez des petits morceaux de finitions et des brillants.

Add some littles pieces for finishing and some glitters or bling.

Voilà!

Hi girls! A little embelishment for your Christmas tree!

On commence avec des inchies! 72 carrés de 1".

We start with inchies! 72 squares of 1"

Pliez le carré de cette manière.

Fold It like that!

Avec des épingles on fixe les pièces sur une boule de styrofoam.

With needles, place the papers pieces on a styrofoam ball.

Faites des couches en cachant les aiguilles le plus possible.
Make some layers and try to hide needles as possible.

Et voila c'est déjà fini!

It's already done!

Décorez votre "cocotte" comme vous le voulez, la mienne n'est pas parfaite mais c'est à réessayer!

Embelish your pinecone as you wish! Mine isn't perfect but I'll retry later for sure!

Aujourd'hui un tutoriel très simple pour faire une décoration de maison très jolie. Juste à temps pour les fêtes!

La dernière fois que j'ai vu Nini elle m'a donné un paquet de papiers pareils. Je me demandais bien quoi faire avec mais j'ai eu une bonne idée.

Coupez 14 morceaux de papier 6"x6". (3 papiers et demi)

Hi girls! Today a new tutorial really simple to make a great house decoration. Just in time for Holidays! The last time I've seen Nini she gave me a couple of similar papers. I was wondering what to do with them but I got a good idea.

Cut 14 pieces of paper 6"x6". (3 sheets and half)

Roulez votre papier de cette façon et attachez la à l'aide d'une brocheuse.

Roll your paper this way and fix It with a stapler.

Faites de même avec les 13 morceaux.

Do the same thing with the others pieces.

Collez vos cônes côte à côte et fixez avec une brocheuse encore.

Glue your cones together and fix it with a stapler.

Formez une couronne.

Form a wreath.

Découpez un cercle assez grand pour cacher toutes les extrémités.

Cut a circle wide enough to hide the end of the cone.

Décorez la et collez le dans le milieu de la couronne.

Embelish it and glue it in the middle of the wreath.

J'ai ensuite mis une grosse boucle, de la dentelle, des fleurs et surtout un ruban pour l'accrocher!
Et voila!

I make a big ribbon bow, I add lace, flowers and a ribbon to hang it. Enjoy!

Aujourd'hui je vous présente une version du calendrier de l'avent. Plutôt que d'avoir un chocolat chaque journée je vous propose l'inverse. De donner chaque jours.

Le temps des Fêtes est un temps joyeux certain où l'on aime recevoir des cadeaux mais c'est aussi l'occasion idéal pour passer du temps en famille et donner aux moins bien nantis.

Donc commençons!

Hi girls! Today I'll present you a version of the Advent Calendar. Instead of having some chocolates every days until Christmas I propose you to give something every days. Christmas time is a happy time where we like to receive present, but It's also a time to spend moments in familly or giving to less blessed peoples. So, let's get started!

J'ai fait une liste de 28 activités ou occasions à créer. Je sais qu'il n'y a que 24 jours à faire mais j'en ai fait 28 au cas où elles ne seraient pas d'à propos. La voici, vous pouvez l'enregistrer et l'imprimer sur un papier épais.

Ensuite découpez-les le plus près possible autour des mots.

I've made a list of 28 activities or event to create. (Sorry in French only) I know there is only 24 days to make but I've made 28 just in case they aren't realist. You can save it and print on a thick white paper. Next cut it close to the words.

Avez vous des rouleaux vides comme celui ci? J'en ai une tonne! Donc je vous propose de les réutiliser dans ce projet.

Do you have some empty rolls like this? I own a lot! I propose you to reuse them in this project.

J'ai coupé des bandes de 2,5"x12" dans différents papiers de Noel.

I cut paper in stripes of 2,5" by 12" in different Christmas papers.

Collez les bandes de papiers une après l'autre, vous aurez besoin de 5 bandes. (60 pouces) Ensuite au bout de ce que sera votre "verso", collez un papier collant double-face.

Glue the strip one after the other. You'll need 5 strips. (60 inches) Next add a double sided tape to the "verso" of your paper.

On commence à la fin, où il y a le ruban adhésif. Laissez un pouce de libre après l'adhésif. Faire une ligne de pli à tout les 2 pouces. Vous pouvez les faire avec une lame qui fait des pointillés ce serait encore mieux. Vous devez avoir 25 "sections". Celle avec le ruban ne compte pas. Enlevez le papier excédant.

We start at the end of the long strip, where the tape is. Let one inch after the tape. Make a score line every 2 inches. You can make it with the perforator blade, it gives better results. You should have 25 sections without the one with tape. Remove the excess.

J'ai aligné mon poinçon cercle sur les lignes de plis et j'ai perforé chaque fois un demi cercle. Ça donne une allure générale de ticket.

I have aligned my punch with the score line and make an half circle. It gives my section the look of a ticket.

Sur chaque section j'ai mis mes dates. N'oubliez pas que le 24 doit être le plus près du ruban adhésif et non le contraire.

I've glued my date on each sections. Don't forget that the 24 must be at the end where the tape is.

Tournez votre calendrier de coté. Collez les messages sur chaque section.

Turn the calendar on the other side. Glue the texts on each sections.

Enlevez la protection du ruban adhésif et collez sur le rouleau. Décorez votre rouleau à votre gout!

Take off the protection of the double sided tape and glue the strip on the roll. Decorate the roll to your likings.

Alter it Monday ~ How To Do Bodice Lacing on a Mini Album

C'est vraiment simple de créer un mini-album avec un look de corsage lacé. J'ai utilisé, des couvertures en chipboard, (les miens étaient 4"x4"), le Distrezz-It-All, le Crop-A-Dile, un ruban étroit et une aiguille à broderie.

Pour commencer j'ai passé trois bords des couvertures sur la Distrezz-It-All. J'aime beaucoup l'effet du très usé mêlé à celui du corset lacé.

It's very easy to create the look of bodice lacing on a mini-album. The tools that I used to create with are chipboard panels (mine are 4"x4"), the Distrezz-It-All, Crop-a-dile, skinny ribbon, and an embroidery needle.

To begin, I ran three of the edges of the chipboard panels through the Distrezz-It-All. I like the highly distressed edge against the refined look of the bodice lacing.

Ensuite j'ai troué 4 trous, espacés également au long du coté qui n'était pas travaillé sur les panneaux.

Next I punched 4 holes, equally spaced, along the non-distressed edge of the chipboard panels.

Maintenant enfilez le ruban sur l'aiguille.

Now thread the skinny ribbon on to the embroidery needle.

Tenez les 2 panneaux ensembles et lacez au travers des trous de la même façon que vous feriez pour vos chaussures.

Take the panels, stack them together, and lace through the holes like you are lacing up shoes.

Lorsque vous serez en haut, retournez vers le bas et finissez du coté opposé que vous avez commencé.

When you have gone upwards with the lacing, go downward and finish off on the opposite side of where you started.

Attachez avec une bouche solide et faites en une deuxième par dessus!

Tie the ends in a bow and then tie another bow on top of that one!

Today I'll introduce you one of my favorite medium. Especially in this time when we need to make some Christmas cards!

It's called Liquid Appliqué.

Here's a little picture of the product.

Donc, je vous ai préparé un petit tutoriel pour montrer son utilisation.

On prend notre image étampée.

So I've prepare a quick tutorial to show how use it.

Take your stamped image.

On la colore avec nos marqueurs préférés.

Color your image with your favorites markers.

On ajoute notre Liquid Appliqué où on le désire.

Add the Liquid Appliqué where's desire.

Il sera sous forme liquide. Ça ressemble à de la colle blanche.

Et on fini avec le pistolet à embosser.

It's liquid for now. The texture looks like white glue.

Finish with your heat gun.

Génial non? On dirait de la ouate! Utilisez la blanche pour simuler, la ouate, la neige, de la guimauve, du pop-corn ou même un crémage de cupcake!

Awesome isn't? Looks like cotton pads!. Use it to simulate, snow, mashmallow, popcorn or even cupcake dipping!

Paper - Scissors - Ink & Glue! (Spiral flowers) - Frugal Fridays

Bonjour les scrappeuses! Ici Lorena avec nos vendredis économiques. Si vous êtes comme moi je bave d'envie devant les belles fleurs de marques. J'aime leurs dimensions et leur look.

Voici donc un petit tutoriel pour créer une fleur sans machine à découpes. En fait tout ce que vous aurez besoin, c'est; papier, ciseaux, colle et encre!

Hello Scrappers! Lorena here again with your Frugal Friday post. If you are like me, I just drool over the pretty flowers that all those big names sell. I love how dimensional they are, how pretty they look.

Here is a quick tutorial for a flower bud that doesn't require the use of any die cutting machine. Infact all you need is Paper, Scissors, Ink and Glue!

J'ai un tas de ces ciseaux décoratifs pour faire des bordures qui traînent. Je les utilisent rarement, mais voici une chance d'en utiliser au moins une paire qui fait des bordures "scallop".

I have so many of those decorative edge scissors hanging around, I rarely use them any more, but here is a chance to use the one that looks like a scalloped edge.

Instructions:
1. Étampez une image sur une feuille de "cardstock". Ici j'ai utilisé une étampe de fond.
2. Avec les ciseaux décoratifs coupez des cercles d'environ 1 1/2 de diamètre.
3. Encore avec les ciseaux coupez une spirale au travers du cercle. Gardez les rebords à environ 1/2.
4. Avec des ciseaux régulier, coupez des entailles entre les "scallop".
5. Encrez les entailles et les bordures.
6. Avec vos doigts ou une paire de pinces, commencez une spirale en partant du milieu.
7. Continuer de "rouler", votre fleur doit être serrée.
8. Collez le bas de votre fleur, tenez la jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit sèche.
9. Ouvrez votre fleurs en partant des pétales extérieures.

Voici maintenant des photos pour vous aidez! N'oubliez pas de laisser des commentaires pour me dire ce que vous en pensez!

Directions:
1. Stamp any image onto a sheet of cardstock. Here I used a text based stamp.
2. With the scalloped scissors cut circle shapes. About 1 1/2" in diameter.
3. With the scalloped scissors cut the circle into a spiral. Keep the edges about 1/2" wide.
4. With regular scissors cut slits in between the scallops.
5. Ink the edges of the scallops and on the slits.

6. Using your fingers or a pair of tweezers, start at the middle and spiral in.

7. Keep rolling inwards until you have a tight flower 'bud'
8. Glue from the underside, hold until set.
9. Open the flower petals outward by pulling back the outer parts first.

Alter It Monday ~ Tic-Tac-Toe Magnets!

Bienvenue au Lundi altéré. Aujourd'hui nous allons créer un amusant petit kit de Tic-Tac-Toe magnétique.

Pour débuter, réunissez ensemble une feuille du kit Pixie-licious de Cosmo Cricket, un cardstock de couleur rose, un bâton de colle, une machine à découpe comme la Slice et enfin 12 cadres en acrylique magnétique de format 2"x 2".

Welcome to Alter It Monday! Today we are going to create a fun set of magnets to play Tic-Tac-Toe with.

To start, let's gather together a sheet of Cosmo Cricket Pixie-Licious in "Flower Fields", some shimmery Pink matching Card Stock, a Glue Stick, a die-cut machine like the Slice, and 12 2"x2" (5cmx5cm) magnet acrylic frames.

Pour commencer, coupez 2 bandes dans le papier de 2" par 12" de long. Ensuite coupez chaque bande pour avoir 6 petits carrés. Ils ont tous la même mesure soit 2"x 2". Nous allons travailler sur le dessus de 6 et le dessous des 6 autres.

To start, Cut two strips from the Cosmo Cricket that are 2 inches (5cm) wide by the full 12 inches (30cm) of the paper.
After you have created strips, cut each strip into 6 squares. They will equal 2"x2" (5cm x 5cm). We will work on the fronts of 6 and the backs of 6.

Ensuite, prenez votre Slice et coupez 2 formes, 6 fois chacune. J'ai utilisé des papillons et des libellules. Ils ont été coupés pour mesurer 1 1/2".

Next, take the Slice and cut 2 sets of 6 shapes each. I used Butterflies and Dragonflies. They were cut at 1 1/2" size.

Collez les libellules sur les carrés ayant le même motif et les papillons sur les carrés restant.

Glue the Dragonflies to one set of the cut squares and the butterflies to the other.

Glissez les carrés à l'intérieur du cadre magnétique. C'est maintenant l'heure de jouer au Tic-Tac-Toe! Nous les gardons sur le réfrigérateur. Les enfants ont beaucoup de plaisir à jouer ensemble!

Slide the squares into the frames. Now it is time to play Tic-Tac-Toe! We are keeping our set on the refrigerator. They kids have been having fun playing against each other.

Tutoriel Marque-places - Place Card Tutorial (Kim)

Bonjour les filles!

Un autre petit tutoriel d'Halloween!

On commence avec une feuille de 4"x12". J'ai pris la collection BlackBird de My Mind's Eyes.

Avec un scor parl ou un autre instrument de pliure, faites un trait sur la largeur à 2".

Coupez votre papier à tout les 2".

Vous aurez donc 6 morceaux de 2"x4".

Dans un papier contrastant coupez vous 6 morceaux de 1.75"x1.75".

J'ai ensuite étampé un petit monstre sur chaque carré. Les étampes de la collection BlackBird étaient évidement parfaites!

Après avoir collé chaque petits monstres sur les cartons, j'ai décidé de leur ajouter un peu de stickles.

J'ai ensuite imprimé avec un Dymo les mots; Ci gît, (bon il y a une faute sur le i, mais je ne sais pas encore comment faire des accents avec ma machine!)

J'ai écris les noms de mes convives!

Et voilà, c'est terminé!

Un peu plus près;

De jolis marque-places pour vos invités!

An other Halloween tutorial.

Start with a pattern paper, I use BlackBird of My Mind's Eyes. Cut It to have 4"x12".

Use a score-pal to trace a line at 2".

Now cut your paper each 2".

You'll get 6 pieces of 2" by 4".

In a contrasting paper cut 6 1,75" square.

I've stamped a little monster on each piece of paper. BlackBird stamp collection was perfect!

After fixing square on piece of paper, I've decide to had some stickles.

With my Dymo I've print "Here's lies" for each pieces of paper.

I wrote my guest's names.

And voilà! It's done!

Tutoriel Citrouilles en Papiers - Paper Pumpkins Tutorial (Kim)

Bonjour tout le monde! Je suis de retour en tant que DT Senior chez Posh Design et je suis très contente de vous présenter ma première chronique.

Premièrement on commence avec une belle feuille de la collection Blackbird de My Mind's Eyes.

Coupez votre feuille 6"x12".

Ensuite 6"x6". Après j'ai taillé des bandes de .75" avec une des pièces.

Une fois alignées, j'ai percé avec mon crop-a-dile, une petit trou pour mettre un brad orange.

Avec un punch en forme d'étoile j'ai fait une petite découpe verte lime. Au beau milieu de mon étoile j'ai percé une fois de plus avec mon crop-a-dile. J'ai ensuite répété avec l'autre bout des rubans de papiers.

J'ai ensuite assemblé tel que montré ci dessous.

Voila votre citrouille est faite! Avec de la cordeline j'ai modelé ce petit ornement.

Il ne reste qu'à façonner votre citrouille pour qu'elle ressemble à ceci!

Avec l'autre papier qui vous reste, pourquoi ne pas faire la même chose mais à l'endos?

À la place de la cordeline j'ai mis des petits boutons pour faire la "queue". Et voila vite fait bien fait!

Hi everyone! I'm back as a Senior DT for Posh Design and I'm so happy to share with you my first column! First off we start with a piece of patterned paper from My Mind's Eye Blackbird Collection.

Cut your sheet in half.

Next 6" by 6". I cut the paper in strips of .75". (keep the other piece for later)

I then punched a hole with my Crop-A-Dile to insert an orange brad.

I also punched out a star in a lime colored cardstock. In the center of my star I punched another hole. I repeated this step with the other end of my strips.

Assemble like this.

Your pumpkin is done! With wire I formed this little embellishment.

The final step is to work your paper to form this pumpkin!

With the other piece of paper, why don't you try to make another one using the other side?

I added buttons instead of wire. That's it! Simple, fast and elegant!

Vous voyez, je suis une scrappeuse économe. J'aime utiliser ce que j'ai sous la main plutôt que d'acheter du nouveau matériel.

Welcome to Frugal Fridays! My name is Lorena, and I'll take you on a tour of my crafting studio, showing you how to utilize the items that you may have in your stash that you may not use very often or show you different ways of using your stash. You see, I'm a cheap scrapbooker, I like to use what I've got rather than going out and buying more stuff.

Embossage à chaud sur du vélin

Ne jamais sous-estimer l'utilité du VÉLIN. Une de mes choses favorites est l'embossage à chaud sur le vélin à l'aide de mon imprimante.

J'ai une imprimante à jet d'encre avec laquelle je peux imprimer toutes les couleurs sans nécessairement posséder le pad d'encre et la poudre à embosser. Simplement imprimer la couleur que vous voulez.

Heat Embossing on Velum Never under estimate the power of VELUM. One of my most favourite things to do is heat emboss on velum using my printer. I have an ink jet printer and with it I can print in any colour, unlike having to own several different colours of ink or embossing powder you can print out in any colour you like.

Imprimer sur du vélin peut être un peu malpropre, il faut se souvenir que le vélin est une sorte de papier plastifié donc l'encre reste sur le dessus du papier plutôt que d'être absorbée.

Une fois que vous avez imprimé sur votre vélin couvrez votre image avec de la poudre à embosser transparente, enlevez l'excédent et chauffez.

Printing on velum can be a little messy, remember that velum is a plasticized paper and therefore the ink will sit on top of the paper for a little while longer than standard printer paper. Once you have printed the velum, immediately cover the image with clear embossing powder , shake off the excess and heat.
Parce qu'il y a beaucoup d'encre sur le vélin l'image va augmenter.

J'aime aussi utiliser de la poudre à embosser métallique, ajoutez par la suite un peu d'encre Distress et vous avez un beau fini métal usé.

Utilisez de l'encre Versamark et de la poudre à embosser claire pour un effet subtile qui va surement attirer l'oeil!

Because there is so much ink sitting on top of the velum you get a very raised embossed image. I also like to use a metallic embossing powder for a metal look; add a little bit of distress ink and you have a tarnished metal look.

Use Versamark clear ink and clear embossing powder with a snowflake stamp for a subtle image that is sure to catch a few eyes.

Making Your Own Message Board

Making Your Own Messaged Board

I bought a piece of cork board a couple of years ago and never did anything with it. Now, that I've found it in my scrappy stash I decided to use it up before I lose it again! You can get cork sheets at any craft or office supply store.

I started by hot gluing a sheet of light weight chipboard to the back of it so it won't full apart from using push pins going into it over the years. I used hot glue, this helps it stay together really well and I don't think white glue would be able to keep the two together.

Once I was done with that I painted the edges so they would look pretty and you would not see plain old cork. I used copper colored paint.

To cover the cork I used Teresa Collins paper from her Documented line. I used the sheet with the big clock in the middle of the paper. I cut the clock out and distressed the edges of what was left with the paper and inked them with vintage photo distress ink.

I then cut out a tag from the same paper line distressed and inked it as well using vintage pink glimmer mist to it. I also added some prima flowers and a few roses, feathers and a stick pin that I made. I punched two holes at the top and pulled lace though them so I could hang it on the wall. Lastly, I added a butterfly clip to the lace.

I then made matching pins using my i-top I just toke the same paper line so that they would all go together.

Now here is how it looks hanging on my the side of my fridge. I had a lot of fun making this message board and it only toke about 2 hours to do!! Very fun and easy!!

Alter It Monday ~ Coffee Filter Cosmos!

Hello and Happy Monday!

Today we are going to create Cosmos flowers with coffee filters and Glimmer Mist!

The needed supplies are:

~coffee filters, 5

~A number of Glimmer Mists, I used 5!

~Staples and stapler

~Coordinating chalk ink

~Button

~liquid adhesive

Start off by misting the coffee filters. Layer the colors as you see fit and make them all pretty.

When you have the desired colors on the filters, set them aside to dry. After a few minutes, wad them all up in your hand and crumple them into a ball. Set that aside to dry. Once dry, smooth them out into their circles again.

Fold each circle in half. Fold rounded edge down to the first fold line. Repeat on other side.

Fold this in half again and pinch/hold for stapling.

Alternate and overlap stapled ends. Staple in place.

Fluff out the petals of the flower to desired fullness.

Take the Chalk Ink and swipe on the center of the flower. Glue Button in place with Liquid adhesive.

Enjoy your flower!

Hi Everyone and I hope you are having a great weekend thus far!

This blog post is going to be about making a mini-album. Now I know there are tons of tutorials and videos showing the amazing and vast examples of mini-albums. This post (as with all my blog posts) is about taking the simplistic way to create a meaningful album by using very few tools and supplies you have already in your stash.

You may know that making these types of projects is not my forte. I love seeing them and appreciate the craftsmanship but then I wondered if one mini-album can be created quickly, beautifully and easy to assemble as well. Here's the story behind this mini album...

My girlfriend and I were 1 month apart being pregnant. Currently I am 6-1/2 months along (baby and I are doing really well) but my friend was having a troublesome pregnancy right from the get-go. A long story short, she had gone into labour early (being almost 24 weeks) and gave birth to a son named 'B' (abbreviated for privacy reasons). My friend is obviously going through a challenging time in her life right now. She is in the big city, away from family and friends, her home and surroundings all the while concentrating on helping her son fight the fight of his life. I wanted to give her an outlet to express herself and remember the private yet precious moments of her son's young life. Hence this mini-album (mind the pun, not intented here) was created for my friend.

To assemble this mini album quickly, here is my short list of supplies and tools required:

Die shape of choice (for this project I used a top note die which was big enough for journalling, photos and/or attaching pockets to). You can use any shape you wish whether it be from a electronic based machine or manual use.
Cutting machine compatible to cut/create the above shaped die of choice (I used my Big Shot but any die cut machine will do).
Binder ring
Embellishments of choice (I encourage you to dig through your stash and use it up)
Patterned paper of choice (again use up what you already have whether it be full sheets or scraps)
Stamps and ink if desired
Adhesive

While I won't go through the steps on how I created and assembled my mini-album; I will share with you my thought process on how I mix and matched my supplies:

Gather up everything (I mean everything - from the above list of supplies) you want or think you want to use to create this mini album. Shop once from your stash and do not look again until the project is complete.
Create separate piles within your stash that you would want to use on a page. Do not think whether or not you'll use the elements until you start creating.
Arrange those piles in the order of the mini-album presentation. Decide at this point if you are going to make it double or single-sided pages.
Start creating! The process on how you create each page is up to you - you can create page by page or in mass production (i.e. cut all pages first, layer on embellishments next and so on...).
Assemble your pages together for your mini-album.
Once you have assembled your finished project, take one good look over. Make any adjustments or changes but try not to re-do (remember this is supposed to be quick and easy). When you have made your final touches complete - DO NOT touch the album again! You are officially done.

My biggest tip for this type of project is... If you spend the time in the beginning to choose your supplies and elements plus arrange them in a way to make creating easy for you; you should not have to go back and make any last minute changes. Again this is my humble and personal opinion only.

I hope I have demystified and encouraged you to make a mini-album. After all paper crafting is not meant to be complicated or seem out of reach for some to be intimidated not to create. Take a deep breath and dive right in. Enjoy the creative process and relish in your finished projects. If you put your heart into it, your mini-album will be enjoyed by others for a long time to come. No matter how simple or elaborate your project may be.

Tutorial Thursday with Kim - Flower Tut PT1

Hi girls!

I always try to have matching flowers in my stash... Even if I own a lot, (maybe even too much for some...) I often miss out on THE perfect flower. Toda,y I'll show you an easy way to make some!

Start with a piece of white cardstock, take one of your favorite stamp, I suggest swirly designs something along that line...

Ink it with some Ranger Distress Embossing Ink. Stamp it onto your cardstock a couple of time, I've stamp my pattern 4 times and it was ok. Now it's time to emboss your design with black embossing powder. I now have this pattern twice. It's not important if your pattern isn't neat and all. You can see some "droplets" and "dustiness" on my cardstock but don't worry.

To make my flower I decided to use my Spellbinders die because I believe I don't use them enough! I will then cut my flowers in 2 sizes with those die templates.

Cut a little bit of the flower. You can see how I've cut them. Don't go too close to the center because your flower will break very easily.

Turn your flowers and ink them with Distress ink. (I used Pumice Stone)

Now let's give a bit of volume to our flowers. Roll the petals into a round piece. I use my paint brush. The more you roll the more your flower will be thicker. Roll down the biggest flower and roll up the smaller one.

Look at the result.

Add a glue dot and affix the two flowers together.

I added a little flower on the top because I knew I'll need a bit of contrast.

And now, the final touch. A pearl!!

KISS (Keep It Simple Saturdays) with Michelle ~ Window Card Tutorial

Happy Saturday to You!

I am not sure about you but here in Eastern Ontario it is turning out to be one hot, humid Summer and it is not even July yet! So I thought of creating a 'light' card sort of speak and came up with this easy method on how to create a window card.

Here are the tools and supplies you'll need for this method:

Plastic or Acrylic craft sheet
Paper trimmer
Bone folder
Sheet of cardstock
Patterned paper (optional)
Adhesive - I recommend a very strong hold adhesive as you will be applying cardstock and patterned onto the plastic or acrylic craft sheet

This is the recipe you need to complete this method:

Trim your plastic or acrylic sheet to desired card size. Fold in half using your bone folder. If you are using a plastic craft sheet, when folding that sheet in half you may hear a cracking sound and think your sheet is tearing apart. It is not and is a normal sound in this process.

Trim your cardstock to the same dimension as above. Cut in half ensuring each piece fits on the inside of the card as well as the exterior of the card.

Apply adhesive to one piece of the cardstock and adhere to the inside. Trim off any excess cardstock from the plastic or acrylic sheet.

Repeat with the other piece of cardstock but to the back exterior of the card (i.e. to cover up any adhesive showing from the inside of the card out.

Choose a mat shape that you would like repeated 3 times (e.g. die cut or pre-made).

Line up 2 of shapes that will go on top of the interior of the card (cardstock side) and on its opposite interior side. Apply adhesive.

Having your mat shapes line up, adhere the bottom piece first then lay the other piece with the adhesive side up, lining up the shapes seamlessly. Press your card firmly together.

Take your last mat shape piece, position it on the exterior of the card (i.e. the cardfront) and again seamlessly line it up to the interior of the card (i.e. the side of the card where the adhesive is showing). Press firmly in place.

Stamp, embellish and decorate as desired. You have just completed your window card!

Tutorial Thursday with Kim - Triptych Part 1

Hi girls!
Last month I was privileged to meet the one and only... Tim Holtz! He's so inspiring... From now on I'm in a Vintage, Shabby Chic and Distressed mood! I decided to create a project of my own, a special project and I want to share the step-by-step instructions with you!

The project is huge so it will be divided in two parts!

Begin with 3 sheets of chipboard. ( you'll need 6 pieces) Apply your favorite glue or double-sided tape and affix a black cardstock onto it.

Nobody's perfect! I had a margin done without paper! It's so frustrating!

I took my Black Dabber Paint (a very useful medium) and painted over the cardstock and chipboard.

Do the same thing two additional times to get three "groundworks". Now the fun begin! Take a sheet and trace 2 diagonales to find the center of your piece.

Create an 8" square and remove the central part. Here's a tip, trace a parallel lign from 2" of the edge to 4" of center.

Once you're done for the first one, you won't need to make them all again for the twos other ones, simply used them as a guide and trace like if it were a stencil.

Add some double-sided tape, glue it near of the edge because the paper can ripple.

Add your paper on the taped side of the chipboard. I used the new paper line from Tim Holtz... Turn your chipboard to see the "raw" side. Trace again a big X and cut it

Remove a part of the "triangle", it's not important if it's not totally right. You'll get something approximately similar to the picture below.

Create a lign with a bone folder. Fold it and glue it down. Use a brayer to be sure it's really affixed.

Look at the result. We now have a frame!

Do the same for the other 2 pieces! I made one pink and two neutral, I have 2 boys and a girl.

Did you see?

Grrr! So tiring! I use the same paint dabber for the three part, I think it's called Expresso.

Now I distressed my frame, I use a blending tool and the Vintage Photo Distress Ink and inked my three frames.

It was too drastic so I used a baby wipe and blended the ink with water.

I would have loved to use strap hinges but unfortunately I don't own any so I used my Bind-It-All to connect my three frames. I've punch holes on my black "groundwork" on the top and the bottom.

Use this templace to know where to punch the holes.

Now your holes are done, install your rolls. No need to care about the color.

Here's the result after connecting the 3 groundworks together.

I've temporary affixed the frame just to show you a preview...

Cute isn't? But the final result is far better! I hope you enjoyed today's tutorial! See you next week!

Alter It Monday ~ Raffia Flowers

Hey everyone,
I got a quick and fun flower tutorial that can be done in just 4 easy peasy steps!

1- Cut (5) 12" lengths of raffia.

2- Tie each length into a bow.

3- Glue each bow along the outside edge of a chipboard circle.

4- Embellish center as desired. I used a wooden brad to continue the natural feel of the flower.

Altered Frame + Flower Tutorial

Hey everyone! This alter frame I made for my Dad, and I had so much fun doing it!! It is also a super cheap gift to make someone! (I know we don't want to think of it but christmas will be here before we know it!) Lets get started!!

To start you need an unfinished frame you can get them at most craft stores the one I used cost only a $1.50! See what I mean cheap!! I took some white paint from Making Memories called "Spotlight", I took a paint brush and dry brushed the frame, I did not want to cover the whole frame because I like the look of the wood showing through the paint.

Once the paint dried I took some :"Gold-like" paint from Adirondack and dabbed it onto my finger then rubbed it on the frame. Once the Gold paint was dried I put a coat of Tim Holtz "Rock Candy" Crackle paint. Just a note about the "Rock Candy" paint I had to apply 2 coats because the paint soaked into the frame. Next time I am going to try putting a coat of mod podge first then the "Rock Candy" and see if it will crackle better.

When the paint dried I took Tim Holtz Distress Ink in "Vintage Photo", dabbed my finger into the ink and then rubbed over some of the cracks made by the Crackle paint; they would stand out more and make the frame look more distressed.

When I was waiting for my frame to dry I started working on my flower. I took two white Prima flowers. I sprayed the bigger flower with "Creme de Chocolate" and the smaller flower with "Walnut Gold" Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels.

I set the flowers aside to dry and started working on the pin. I just got a pin with a pearl end, a lose pearl bead and a spacer. I took a hot glue gun and glued the pearl and the spacer onto the pin. You do not have to use hot glue it is just quicker and you don't have to wait for it to dry.

When my flowers were dry I took some Smooch Accent Ink in "Molasses" and rubbed it around the edges of the flower and also some on the petals of the flower.

When I was done with the "Smooching" I took all the layers for the flower and adhered them together. I used Prima rhinestones for the center of the flower and I placed the pin and feathers behind the flower.

The last part is to just have fun with it and decorate your frame the way you want to! I kept mine simple and just added the flower I made and some Prima rhinestones.

KISS (Keep It Simple Saturdays) with Michelle ~ Heat Embossed Buttons Tutorial

Happy Saturday Everyone! I hope your start to your weekend is a good one!

Here is a fun and interesting way to use heat embossing and buttons together to create unique embellishments for your projects. The best part is most of us have buttons and heat embossing tools in our stashes already! So let's get started...

Here are the tools and supplies you need for this method:

Plastic buttons
Heat gun
Embossing powder
Water-resistant ink pad such Versamark
Anti-static pad
Tweezers (not shown)
Bone Folder (not shown)
Powder tray or scrap paper (to catch the excess embossing powder)
Stamp image of choice

Here is the recipe you'll need to complete this method:

Rub your anti-static pad across the button.

Stamp your image onto the button using water-resistant ink.

Pick up your button using tweezers. DO NOT move the tweezers once they are in place.

Pour embossing powder over the button. Gently tap off excess powder onto tray or scrap paper. Tip: If you find your stamped image is not as crisp as desired, simply rub off the embossing powder with your finger and repeat steps #1 through #4.

Use your heat gun to emboss the powder. Ensure your fingers are gripping the tweezers firmly yet far away from the heat.

Once heat embossing is complete. Set aside the button and tweezers to cool. *Caution: Tweezers will be hot to touch because it is metal, metal heats up more quickly than plastic. This should take no longer than 15 mins to cool dependent on the strength of your heat gun. Please be careful once you've reached this step.

Remove tweezers from button. You are ready to use your newly created embellishment!

Tip: Use flat buttons for easier handling throughout this entire process.

It's amazing how you can change a look of a typical embellishment into something one-of-a- kind. And it is so easy and simple! Try mixing and matching your colored buttons with colored embossing powders to create a whole new look to your buttons.

Tutorial Thursday with Kim - Stair card

Today a simple tutorial for a great card! Start with a 5 1/2" by 10 1/2". Fold It to; 1 1/4", 2 1/2", 4 1/4", 6" and 8 1/4".

Now simply fold It this way,

I hope It's clear enough! Now simply embelish as you want! I've cut some papers, ink some great stamps, well... I was really inspired and made a lot of fun!

Bling It On!!

That's right, this post is all about the bling!! Glitter, Distress Stickles, Glimmer Mist & Sharpie. That's right....Sharpie!! We all have those don't we? Have you ever thought of using them to add some bling to your layouts or other projects? No, you say? I think I just might be able to change your mind.

But first, here's the layout I just made. See if you can spot the Sharpie.

Yes, there's definitely glitter on the title, and a bit of Glimmer Mist on the lace......

And there's definitely Distress Stickles on the butterfly & the leaves.........

Still can't see the Sharpie?

How about now? No? Need a hint? Take a look at the rhinestones. That's right, the rhinestones! Okay, let me explain.

Whenever I decide to purchase rhinestones, I don't know what color to buy. Let me back up. I don't normally shop for products with an end result in mind. I usually make my purchases based on appeal first, cost second & availability last. So, I never know what color flower, rhinestone, lace, etc I need before I sit down to scrap.

Needless to say, I rarely have the right color of everything I need, for any given project. One great reason why I love my Cuttlebug & Cricut so much, is that I can make anything in any color!! Especially flowers and leaves!! I also purchase lace in white or off-white, so I can tint it with Glimmer Mist or my home-made version of it. Distress Stickles is also great to have on hand, although I don't have many colors. I can still add some sparkle to any layout with the Rock Candy, as the color underneath will show through.

So, what does this have to do with a Sharpie? Well.......I have started purchasing clear rhinestones, including flourishes, this way I can color co-ordinate them with any layout or project I might have in mind!!

Now do you see it? If you're still unsure, here's a peek at some flourishes that I have started to color for another project......

Sorry, bad picture. Very cloudy today, the lights aren't helping, and the flash is giving off too much glare. As I was saying, take your Sharpie and color each individual stone......no, it doesn't take very long!! Don't like the color? Go over it with another color, and it will remove the first color you used, providing that it's not too dark. It takes no time to dry, so you can color, wait about 30 seconds, and apply it to your project.

I'm sure you're wondering if you can use other markers......yes, you can. As long as your marker is not water-based, it will work!!! And the best part of this, is that you are not limited to the 'in' colors or whatever color your local craft store may carry!!

Try it out for yourself, you'll love this idea. And stay tuned in for another great 'bling it on' idea. I'm testing something else!!

Alter It Monday ~ Flutter on by my Butterfly!

Flutter on by...my Butterfly!

Summer is upon us and the butterflies are flitting about. This is such a wonderful sight to behold! Could you imagine being carried about in the breeze on whisper light wings? Oh to be a butterfly!

I thought about that today and gathered together a few of my favorite supplies. I had to create a Butterfly!

I used some pattern papers, adhesives (wet and dry), and a piece of raffia.

I cut one piece of pattern paper in an elongated trapezoid shape.

I folded the wide end of the trapezoid up and over the raffia that I folded in half. This was then glued in place.

Roll the pattern paper all the way to the end and glue in place. This creates the Butterfly's body!

Fold another piece of pattern paper in half and adhere it firmly in place on all sides.

Get out those trusty old decorative scissors and freehand cut some wings.

Pinch and fold the bottom wing and glue in place. Alternatively, a staple will do nicely as well. Repeat this for the top set of wings.

Adhere the body to the wings and there you go!

KISS (Keep It Simple Saturdays) with Michelle ~ Stamping onto Photographs Tutorial

Hi everyone!

Summer is here and if your family is a busier one during this time of year, you may find yourself with little crafting time to spare. This week's post is a ultra-short one. I wanted to show you a simple yet very creative way to use your stamps.

When stamping think beyond cardstock and patterned paper; stamp onto your photographs for added interest. Here are some of my creations using this method:

The type of stamp pad is very important to accomplish this method. You will need a solvent based ink such as Staz-On. Solvent based inks are best for porous surfaces such as wood, leather, and photo paper. Water based inks such as your usual dye based inks will repel against photo paper. Pigment based inks will not absorb fully onto photo paper.

There is only two key points to remember when using Staz-On onto photographs:

No matter what type of stamp you use (rubber, acrylic or foam), stamping onto photos directly will have a little 'slip n slide'.
Any type of stamp you use for this method will stain. Bear in mind this in no way change the effectiveness of the stamp for other uses and with other types of ink pads.

Here are some tips and tricks when using solvent based inks & stamps onto photographs:

Do not crop nor mat your photo first. Stamp first then trim if necessary your photograph to ensure its proper size and dimension.
Before stamping onto your photograph, use a temporary adhesive on the back of the photograph and place onto a non-stick crafting mat. This will ensure your photograph will stay in place when stamping.
Ensure proper drying time when using this method. This will prevent any smearing of the stamped image. However should you smear by accident, simply use Staz-on cleaner dabbed onto a kleenex and gently pounce off the smeared stamped image. Your photograph should not ruin by doing this. DO NOT use a heat gun to speed up the drying time as this may warp your photograph by bending them or cause ripples onto the photo paper. Personally I have left my stamped images to dry overnight to prevent smearing.
Ensure when you stamp to stamp in a up and down fashion, not an angle and use firm pressure. This will leave you with a cleaner image and prevent alot of the 'slip n slide' I mentioned earlier.

That's really it when it comes to stamping onto photographs using solvent based inks. If you like to try this method, I recommend having a black and brown solvent ink pad in your stash as a base. Once you are comfortable using this method pick up other colors, the creative possibilities are endless! Try this method yourself and you might think of what to stamp next in a whole new light! Tutorial Thursday with Kim - Fun with Alcohol Ink PT 3

Hi girls!

I didn't forget my promise, I recently discovered some new tips when working with alcohol inks.
Let's begin! First take a piece of glossy paper and emboss it. I want a masculine effect so I took some Fleur-De-Lys!

The cuttlebug embossing folders are really nice, they emboss really deep! It always gives it a nice look!

Next step it so simply choose the colors for your project. I wanted to have a monochromatic palette so I chose, Denim, Aqua and Silver Mixative.

You'll probable need more ink than usual because these inks dry really fast and the embossing needs more time to ink. Look at the result. Too purple for a man. I'm not totally satisfied!

So I will try and distress it a bit. I've sanded it. I wasn't sure if I could sand glossy paper. But it works very well! The Fleur-De-Lys came back a bit white.

The last step for this technique was easy! I used my Black StazOn on a tissues to accentuate the embossing.

It's done! Look how nice is the result!

Are you ready for another one? Let's make a girlie one! I don't use mixative for this card. I use Shell Pink and Raisin. I ink my glossy paper whitout making a pattern.

I choose a great background, I applied Distress embossing ink from Tim Holtz. Why? Because embossing ink sticks almost everything on it.

Clean your place and put some drops of blending solution on you mat. "Ink" your stamps with the blending solution and apply on your paper.

Don't panic! The result can make about 2 minutes to appear! We aren't accustomed to wait with alcohol ink!

The blending solution will "erase" or blend your ink and give at your card a smooth effect.

If you want you can embelish! I use some stamps to finish my future card! Don't forget that you'll need Archival Ink to use on glossy paper and alcohol ink!

Interresting isn't?

A tip, you can make the same technique with Distress Ink and water...

One last... For luck!

One another thing I've learn recently... You can emboss the glossy paper... It's not like photo paper who make "bubles" when It's too hot.
So Start with inking your stamp (I use a background stamp) with Distress embossing ink on my cardstock. I've powder some clear embossing powder on It and heat It.

I've take a wooden pattern so I decide to go trough and take some "brown" colors.

Don't forget; if you didn't like the result you can add a layer! The final step, (yes, already!) take a tissue and put some blending solution in. Gently pass on the "stripe" or you pattern. The ink will easily come off.

It look so distress and vintage! Doesn't look like the white flat glossy paper!

Look at this when It's totally dry!

KISS (Keep It Simple Saturdays) with Michelle ~ Ribbon Die Cut Tutorial

Happy Saturday to you!

Last weekend was a Victoria Day long weekend; an 'official' start to the Summer season. Although relaxing and fun, this past week was super crazy busy. This week's post will focus on creating super fun, ultra quick and really cool embellishments using your ribbon scraps, Big Shot machine and die of choice.

I apologize in advance if you do not own a Big Shot. This is the only type of die cut machine I have that will cut through fabric. I am not sure if this will work with other machines like the Cricut, Cuttlebug or Quickutz (I know this will not work for the Slice die cut machine).

Here are the tools and supplies you'll need for this project:

Big Shot machine with its cutting plates
Die of choice - it is highly recommended to use steel-rule based dies as they are best for cutting through fabric
Ribbon scraps or strips of the alike
Cardstock scrap
Scissors
Adhesive - it is also highly recommended to use strong adhesive that will hold the ribbon in place on the cardstock while putting it through the Big Shot machine

Here is your recipe for this creation:

1. Cut your scrap cardstock piece to desired size dependent if you want to create several die cuts or just one. Do not worry about the color of cardstock as the entire sheet will be covered in ribbon.

2. Apply adhesive to the entire side of the cardstock.

3. Place strips of ribbon in any order of choice going one way across the cardstock. Do not worry if your ribbon ends overlap the cardstock piece - this portion will not be die cut through the Big Shot.

4. Lay your ribbon covered piece of scrap cardstock onto the die.

5. Run through your Big Shot using the usual stack recipe (as per Sizzix).

6. Enjoy and use your newly created embellishment on desired project such as on a card or scrapbook page.

Tip: Use a heavy-weight cardstock such as 80lb or higher for support and durability of the finished die cut embellishment.

Tip: Measure the biggest portion of the actual shape on the die itself if you choose to create just one embellishment. That way you are not wasting anymore cardstock or ribbon unnecessarily.

Tip: You may have noticed that the top and bottom of the ribbon strips were not touched by the die therefore was not cut by the Big Shot. To me this is okay because I will save the scrap for another project. However should you wish to have a particular ribbon be part of your embellishment; ensure you place those pieces closest to the centre of your cardstock sheet.

Tip: If you see any ribbon ends fraying after the die cutting process, simply cut these ends off using a sharp pair of scissors and then apply strong-hold hairspray when complete. The hairspray will prevent further fraying to occur (and yes this method works like a charm).

Fun Friday - Post-It Note Holder

Welcome to another Fun Friday! This week is another simple project for newbie stampers. We're going to make a Post-It note holder. These are quick to whip for quick little tuck-ins or spur of the moment gifts.

You will need just a few simple supplies:

Heavyweight cardstock for base or liner
Designer paper or decorative cardstock
Your favorite adhesive (I used my ATG gun)
Ribbon
Embellishments of choice
Post-It notes

Step 1 - Cut heavyweight cardstock to 7" x 3.25"

Step 2 - If using the Scor-Pal, move the cardstock to the 1/4" line, score at 3.5" and again at 4".

If using this layer as a liner, add your decorative cardstock to the front. Attach ribbon, then attach your decorative front. Adhere your Post-It note to the inside between the scored lines.

That's it. A quick, easy, fun little gift! Perfect for a Fun Friday.

Tutorial Thursday with Kim

Hi girls!

This week I have a long tutorial, but when you'll see the result you won't regret!

Let's start with a cardstock of 6" by 12". (Keep the other piece for later) Fold it at 4" and 8". You'll get this.

Now you need a trapezoid shape. So cut a diagonal line from the fold line to the outter corner. You'll get this.

Take a piece of another cardstock. (It must be an untextured cardstock or patternless paper) Cut a 4" by 6" into it. (Keep the unused for later) Cut a diagonal line in the middle. Like this.

Now glue the two triangles like this.

Take a pattern paper and cut it 3.5" by 5.5". Repeat the last step and glue them on the cardstock. Don't forget to leave a margin around your paper.

If you want you can fix a nice ribbon across the card.

With my Cricut I cut two dies, I've stamp an image on a white paper and with a piece of my paper I've keep before I've made another die a little bit larger. Glue them together.

I coloured the stamp with my markers and added some Flower Soft glue. Cover the stamp well.

Use your Flower Soft like you would use glitter or velvet powder. Here's the result. Cute isn't?

Wait until the glue is completely dry. Now put some 3d dots beside the die and fix It onto the card.

The card is finished. But the project is not quite done yet!

Take again your piece of cardstock left behind. Cut a piece of 3.75" by 5". Cut the corner to make a tag. Take another patterned paper and make another tag and glue them together.

I've added a little cardstock piece to add some text. I've fix It after. (mine is 3" by 3".) I've had an eyelet and a cute ribbon too.

The card and tag is finally done. It's a great card to Mother's Day isn't?

Alter It Monday ~ Ribbon and Button Wreath

This sun inspired ribbon wreath is a quick and easy project to do.

You will need a bunch of ribbons, buttons, a sheet of chipboard, a stapler, and some fast drying liquid glue.

I cut my chipboard into a giant "O" that was about 3/4" thick.
My ribbons were roughly 5 to 6 inches long.

To assemble, I stapled the ribbons around the circle as if they were awareness ribbons.
Once I filled up my ring, I glued the buttons over the staples.
I added a length of ribbon at the top for hanging.

There you go!

This wreath can be made with all sorts of ribbons, scrap ribbons, etc. A variety of textures would be fun!

Crafty & Frugal Storage Jars

You want to beautify your craft space, but you don’t want to spend your hard earned dollars on storage. I’m with you on that one…….given the choice; I would rather buy scrappy goodies than the containers to put it in!!

Here’s my take on the fancy & expensive jars you can buy, to store your buttons, bling, pins, etc.

I used condiment jars. I won’t mention the brand, but suffice it to say that Cheez might have something to do with it!! But you can use any jar that has a lid. Large or small, the process is the same. It’s just the measurements that will be different.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Paper or fabric
Edge punches
Quick dry glue
Scissors
Twine, yarn, etc
Embellies of your choice

Begin by choosing your papers, and trimming them to size width wise. Keep in mind that when you punch the edges, you’ll lose some of the width.

Once you’ve chosen which punch you want to use, go ahead and punch one or both sides of the long edges. Don’t worry about the length, we will trim that later. I did both sides on this sample.

Now take you widest strip of paper, and wrap it around your jar. Once you are happy with the placement, trim the length, so that your paper overlaps about 1 inch. Re-wrap the paper around the jar, and holding it tightly, you can glue it in place. Don’t worry about adhering the paper to the glass, it will stay put.

You can now add a second smaller strip over top, by following the same procedures as above. I chose to add a third piece.

Note: Although I didn’t mention this in the materials needed, I used spray paint on the lid.
However, you could use fabric or paper to cover it.

Now wrap your twine or yarn around your jar several times, and tie off at the front. The backside is where your paper overlaps.

You can embellish the jar even further, by adding flowers, buttons, or anything else. Just glue to the front of the jar.
Here are a few more containers that I made. I used lace on the jar at the farthest right, to get a different look.

This project is simple, fun & easy to do. You’ll save money by using scraps & you’ll feel better about re-purposing a common household item!!
