Festive Fridays - Happy Sinterklaasavond

This month is all about holidays and the festive spirit. There are so many holidays that happen this time of year, it's not just Christmas!

Today is Sinterklaasavond, something that coming from a Dutch family has become tradition.

Taken from wikipedia : Sinterklaas (also called Sint-Nicolaas or De Goedheiligman in Dutch and Saint Nicolas in French) is a traditional holiday figure in the Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles and Belgium, celebrated every year on Saint Nicholas' eve (December 5) or, in Belgium, on the morning of December 6. The feast celebrates the name day of Saint Nicholas, patron saint of, among other things, children.

So for this evening I've been making icicle boxes to hold small treats and goodies in. They are also extremely useful for small Christmas gifts. I've used paper from the American Traditional Designs Scrapbook Bundle Kit - Christmas Party. For only $9.99 you get over 500 pieces, you could make an entire themed album with this package!

Numerous patterns can be found for icicle boxes online for free. Once assembled using cardstock, they can be decorated any way you'd like. I wanted to keep mine simple as you can see although I will be adding glitter to them, but the goodies inside will be a nice surprise. They can be hung on a tree, attached to a larger gift or just given as is.

So Hartelijk Sinterklaasavond and have a great weekend!
