Fiery Fridays - Feels like Fall

I don't know about you but when I think of summer, I think of shorts and tank tops, the hot sun above and a cold glass of lemonade that's ready to drink. I think of temperatures hot enough that I want to live in the pool. I definately do not think of socks and sneakers and light sweaters so as not to feel a chill.

For some reason summer has only occasionally visited the last few months, but there have been more than enough days that feel like a beautiful fall day. I'm ok with fall, once it's mid to late September, but before that it should stay away! Speaking of fall and nice days, have you seen the new pre-orders from Basic Grey? They have an absolutely gorgeous line called Indian Summer, the weather seemed perfect for it.

I've come to love Basic Grey, everything from their papers and card kits to the wide range of embellishments. The pictures really don't do the products justice. When I saw this new line I just about squealed. The colours are gorgeous and the stickers look amazing.

Now the prices for the various items range, starting at $3.50 for some fun Harvest Moon rub ons to $22.00 for the paper pack. The olio rub ons are a treat to work with, the colours are always vibrant and they really last. They are excellent quality to work with. It's possible that once you start working with Basic Grey, like me, you'll be hooked!

These are available now for pre-order. Get them before they're gone and enjoy the summer you do have!

Summer Lovin' PDSS Contest is ON!

Wherever you are, I truly hope you are blessed with enjoying and having a great summer. I cannot believe personally it is almost August. And although the Summer season is far from over; the end of August does somehow signal the end of 'Summer'. I guess with kids going back to school, store displays filling up with Fall merchandise esp in some; Halloween (eek!) and of Labour Day Weekend here in North America.

I truly cannot believe how time has flown by! In saying that I've also taken tons of photos of my family and friends capturing just how we spent our Summer thus far. I bet you have tons of photos too. Well get them developed or processed because the Posh Designs Scrapbook Store Contest is BACK so join us for our official Fun in the Sun contest for your chance to win some yummy scrapping goodies!

I am so excited when I found out because I know that the members in the Interactive Community have oodles of talent, ingenuity and creativity when it comes to paper crafting. So now this is your chance to get scrappin' if you've taken some time off. Just scrap your summer memories and enter! You were going to scrap them anyways; Nini has just given you the incentive.

I love seeing all your fabulous creations posted in the gallery and forum threads (i.e. discussions) so needless to say I am looking forward to seeing your projects. Should you need any assistance (and no, do not be sneaky and ask us what we would like to see in project to win, *lol*), please ask any me or any of the DT gals. You can find us on the Members Page; we are located across the top.

So get out your paper, cardstock, adhesive and tools and start crafting! Enjoy reliving your Summer memories. Good luck everyone!

Hi Girls!

How are you?

This week I want to show you a layout that I have made awhile back. It's a new style that I wanted to try and at the same time didn't want to try it because I was not sure that I would end up liking it. My personal style has more of a shabby chic touch to it, but I do enjoy looking at various other styles!

So...

It's a comic book style layout, the key caracteristic of this style is the "bubble talk". Here, I decided to make my M. Potatoe Heads talk to eachother ljust ike how my kids talk to eachother while playing this game. (Life is always a mess with them! So I think they deserved a layout for themself) I used the amazing pattern paper from Sasafrass Lass that Nini sent me they are so beautiful and quite original! So, I'm I must admit that I'm really happy with the end result and I also promised myself to make another one!

Keep in touch girls!

Cricut Tuesdays with Michelle

Hi Everyone and Happy Tuesday!
Last week I was 'stuck' on a current project that to this day I am still working on. It's a card related project that has me inspired to re-create and figure out (still figuring it out) how to effectively and easily make these types of cards using your Cricut. So stay tuned...

Since I felt stuck, I needed a 'push' to create some fabulous projects for this week's blog post. Then came along Posh Designs' Color Inspiration Challenge #4. So I took this opportunity to build up my card stash and had tons of incorporating the Graphically Speaking cartridge and Little Yellow Bicycle Stamp Sets 'Baby Boy & Baby Girl Safari'. As a result, 5 cards were created but this time I wanted to keep the theme the same while use the same elements (only 'changed' 3 of the cards), can you notice?

I've been reading from members that this time of year people are less scrappin' and more enjoyin' summer weather. I hope you are too, I know I am. But when it is time to get their scrappin' mojo movin', they feel 'stuck' as well. As you can see here I can relate. So jump on over to the Posh Challenges forum in the Interactive Community Site. There you will find tons of sketches and challenges to help you get your creative moves back. I hope to see your Cricut Creations posted from these sketches or challenges in the gallery!

Until next week... Happy Crafting!

Photobucket

Individual photos of each card will be posted in the Interactive Community's Gallery. Instructions for you on how to re-create these simple cards will be posted in the Cricut Lounge over at the Community Site.

Come One, Come All to Posh Designs Open Team Call!

Hi Everyone! It's me, Michelle with a special blog post to tell you about Posh Designs Open Call for new Design Team Members.

Now if you are reading this it is because...

a) You love to Blog Hop!

b) You adore Posh Designs's Scrapbook Store.

c) Are a Member of the Interactive Community.

d) Scouting for great ideas and tips for your next papercrafting project.

e) All of the Above.

Well let me tell you, this is your exciting opportunity to do all that plus so much more! Now I can tell you what the perks and benefits are but Nini has done a great job of that inside her Call Page. But what she can't tell you is how it is like on the other side aka being Nini's DT Member. So here's my little story...

My experience in the scrapbooking world is small but have known Nini for quite sometime from a buyer and seller perspective originating from Nini's eBay days. I dabbled here and there creating layout pages for my Son's scrapbook but when I read about a contest Posh Designs Scrapbook Store was hosting. I thought, I'd give it shot and to my stunned surprise I won! With my prize winnings I was able to create layout pages and cards beautifully. Then soon after Nini made the first Design Team Call. I pondered alot about whether to apply because really all I ever knew then was the Cricut. Thought because my talents were still raw, I never thought I would be chosen. But I was because Nini saw in me something 'special'.

To this day, Nini is supportive of my work. Working with Nini allows me the creative freedom to make projects to showcase in her blog. I get to interact and stay connected with members across the world via the community site. Plus I get to shop with a discount on fabulous products found at Posh Designs Scrapbook Store. When it came time to let her know whether or not I was staying on her team; I immediately thought no different... I'm staying. Not because of the discounts, not only because of the blog exposure but because I get to make friends and stay connected which is truly why I got into scrapbooking in the first place. However most of all the main reason I chose to remain a design team member is because Nini is now my friend, a really good friend, and I just love her!

So, I urge you to send in your creative projects! I know there is alot of amazing talent out there. You do not need to be an expert just have passion. And if you are a papercrafter; you have that! I cannot wait to welcome you onto our DT Team! I look forward to it.

Cricut Tuesdays with the McSmitty Girl

Hello there!

Over the past weekend we folks here in Ontario, Canada finally received some good sun shiny weather. I hope your weekend was fabulous wherever you are!

This week I thought I might be a little cheeky and give you a snapshot of cards I created recently. I admit the photo is a bit blurry and I apologize for that. But hey... What's a good teaser if you can see the actual image anyways, right?

These 4 cards were created with some help from the Color Inspiration Challenge #3 which is posted in the Interactive Community site. From this photo, you can probably guess the color scheme. I used a combination of stamping, punches and of course, my Cricut. I used only 1 cartridge for all 4 cards ~ Storybook as it is packed with tons of creative features.

Want to see the finished cards???
Want to know how you can easily re-create these cards???
Do you want to check out the other Color Inspiration Challenges???

Well then... What are you waiting for? Check out the Interactive Community today. Click on "Forum" and go into the discussion board called 'Posh Challenges' to know the Color Inspiration Challenges and/or go into the 'Cricut Lounge' to get your step by step instructions for each card. Each card will be posted in the gallery.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful rest of the week.

Happy Crafting!

I can't top myself...

Hey bloggers!

What a week, on Wednesday afternoon I suddenly came down with a nasty cold which I caught from dear hubby *lol* I stayed in bed the whole time. Could barely keep anything in my tummy, the "hot" and "cold" body temp change was killing me.

So anyways, I was laying in bed on Friday barely able to move when hubby told me that a couple of orders for the store came in... I told him "ohhhhh I don't care leave me alone just let me sleep" but in my mind I was thinking "O to the M to the G the i-Tops must be here" and boy was I right!

I immediately took MY share of the orders! I was so excited it was like Xmas in July *lol* and to top it off I even felt healed, well not completely but felling much better hihihihi...

I was also surprised to see that the i-Top tool came with a bonus Demo DVD! The storage tote is so stinkin' cute in person! I had so much fun I just couldn't top myself from topping anything that seemed to be toppable!

This tool is a must have and coming from me, someone who's not much of a brad fan this tool is truly awesome and you best believe me! I can now create coordinating brads for my projects in just minutes! No more digging through my stash to find that perfect brad! To be honest I stopped digging I mostly forgot about them *lol*

I hope this small review will urge you to start topping!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Fiery Fridays - Bringing home baby

I'm back after my weekend away last week. It's nice to get away every once in awhile and connect with friends that I usually only see about once a year. I had a wonderful time being the geek that I am at Polaris 23 and as always look forward to the next year. I will of course be putting together a LO or two about my weekend crazyness, including Klingon Karaoke (see photo at left, courtesy of Natasha at the con), meeting fun actors and helping out with the Constellation Awards!

This coming weekend is another busy one but with a special event on Sunday. A friend of mine is having her first child, she's due at the end of August and her baby shower is this weekend. Now, we may live in the same city and we keep in touch through MSN and facebook but we don't see each other as often as we'd like. I was one of the handful of people she wanted at the event and it made me so happy to hear it. She is a wonderful, beautiful woman and deserves all the best in her life. So for the event, I offered the woman hosting to help out a bit and in turn have come up with so many ideas for things I can do for my friend.

First, I decided to make a diaper cake! Not only is this a fun gift, but it's a great centerpiece for the gift table. I know it's not paper craft related, but it was the first of many creative ideas I got for the shower. It's three tiered and everything in it is completely usable. There is a total of 66 diapers, 5 onesies and various other goodies tucked away in it. For anyone interested in how to make one, just send me a message and I will happily send you instructions! It's super simple and looks great.

My next project will be a baby book with pre-made pages for mom and dad to fill in. I've never made one before and I'm not sure how well it will work out, but I will take pictures as I go along. What would be great for a project like that is the My Little Yellow Bicycle line of Baby Safari items. I particularly like the Baby Boy flanimals. For only a dollar, they're a steal! There's also the Baby Boy Chipboard stickers which are under $3. I'll follow the basic format of most baby books, but have pages where the shower guests can "sign in" with their name and a brief message to baby and the parents to be.

I love that my friend is a creative person and is one to appreciate things like this. I know that she'll be thrilled with the gesture and the fun gift. I'll be posting pics from the shower early next week as a bonus post, to make up for the one I missed. Till then, happy scrapping and have a great weekend :D

Thursday with Kim

It's my first english chronicle, be indulgent please!

Hi girls! Sorry to didn't make a step last week It was a totaly crazy week! Did you know that Nini make each week challenge and sketch to make us evoluate in scrapbooking? But I notice that We don't participate as much as we can! It make me a quite sad! But I always try to make It because It inspire me a lot! So I'll show you what I've done this last week with paper who's own Nini. (or Owned)

The first layout I show you Nini challenged us to use only neutral colors. It was sure I'll used the La Creme, DCWV pattern paper! This papers are really awesome They are a little embossed with velvet. It give It a great distress look who fit perfectly with the old picture of me.

The second layout I present you is for the 10 challenge sketch, who's the best that Nini made for us to this day! I was totally inspired! The stain on the sketch give me an idea! I've decided to use a mini mister fill with blending solution and Alcohol ink and I've spray It on my whole page. After I've let drop some alcohol ink on my layout. I've stamp with half inked stamp to make my layout look used!

I let you on this note! Come see me next week for others layouts! Don't forget to participate to challenge on the communauty!

Remembering The King of Pop 1958-2009

During these past few weeks I admit I have been in denial about Michael Joseph Jackson's passing. Having parents who are ultimate fans of MJ, resulted in me growing up and listening to all his wonderful songs, music videos/short films.

In grade 7, I performed a winning dance choreography to his hit single "Black & White" for the Stop the Raciscm campaign we had going on at that time. I will always remember Michael Jackson not only for his legendary and unforgettable music but mainly because of the kind, compationate, gentle, and loving man behind the music.

May Michael finally rest in peace.

In Our Darkest Hour
In My Deepest Despair
Will You Still Care?
Will You Be There?
In My Trials
And My Tribulations
Through Our Doubts
And Frustrations
In My Violence
In My Turbulence
Through My Fear
And My Confessions
In My Anguish And My Pain
Through My Joy And My Sorrow
In The Promise Of Another Tomorrow
I'll Never Let You Part
For You're Always In My Heart.

Cricut Tuesdays with Michelle (aka McSmitty Girl)

Hi there and hope you are having a great start to the week!

As you can see the blog title has changed slightly, only to match my name to the Posh Designs Interactive Community Site and hopefully there give you a face to the name who has been creating these posts for you. They have been a blast to do and I admit there is alliterative motive... Not only do I get a chance to play with my machines; A-L-O-T but I actually get more projects done knowing I have a weekly deadline.

With that being said, my Son was invited to a Birthday Party this weekend; his friend is turning 5 and is a huge Soccer player. So I thought I create this cute lil' birthday card using the Soccer Solutions cartridge and stamps. As I continue my stamping journey, I am trying to be mindful of using my stamps where ever I can. The interior of the card you can see how I incorporated my die cut greeting with my stamps.

For the complete instructions on the cuts I used for this card, please head on over to our online forum - click onto the "Cricut Lounge" then head over to the "Cricut Tuesdays with The McSmitty Girl" discussion thread.

Hope you enjoyed this week's project. Until next week, I wish you all great weather and warm sunshine. Happy Crafting!

Cricut Tuesdays with The McSmitty Girl

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

I hope where ever you are you are experiencing gorgeous summer weather as we finally did here in Central-East Ontario! Yesterday my family and I went boating with another family to a nearby town for breakfast. The weather was perfect, water was refreshing and the company was amazing! So to thank them I created this cute and quick card using the Beyond Birthdays, Going Places and Camp Out cartridges.

If you'd like the instructions for this card, please head over to the Posh Designs Interactive Community site. Enjoy the week and until next Tuesday... Happy Crafting!

The Sweet Days Of Summer ~ Jackie's Creations

I am excited and a little sad about this post. First, I am excited about the fabulous products in my DT Kit this month! The rubons and papers from Fancy Pants Summer Soiree Collection are gorgeous! But I am a little sad that this is my last post as a Design Team Member for Posh Designs Scrapbook Store. I will still be around the interactive community though and of course I will be reading the blog to get awesome tips, and hear all the new fabulous products coming into the store! I want to thank Nini for this awesome opportunity, it has been amazing! And trust me if you ever get a chance to design for Nini you will love it, she is an awesome boss! And she puts together cool kits!

Now onto today projects! This is a layout of my Daughter and her two best friends. First off, I distressed a brown piece of cardstock, then cropped a super cute patterned piece of paper from this month's DT kit. I also used a border punch to punch along the bottom and top of the paper. I then added two strips of different patterned paper and added a paper clip on top.

Next, I added the word "Summer" using the fun fuzzy alpha stickers from Making Memories Felt Alpha Stickers as you can tell from previous posts I have used these stickers on numerous projects! A single package can go a long way, they are worth every penny! I then added rubons which are also from the Fancy Pants Summer Soiree line and a gorgeous flower from Prima Flower Power - Blush Posies! Followed by a cute little journaling card that also came in the cute paper pack from this month's kit.

I used the Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Tiny Attacher to attach my ribbon, and the little quote to a piece of ribbon for a cute little embellishment for my photo! YES, the staples are that tiny.... it is my favourite new tool! If you don't own one, you have to pick one up while you are shopping it is so cool! I then finished off the layout by adding a few buttons!

Now for this next layout, I used a plain piece of yellow cardstock as my base piece of paper. I then inked the edges of a clear 12 x 12 Transparency Overlay also from the Summer Soiree kit. I then used my Crop A Dile to puch holes along the entire right side of my layout and added knots of ribbon.

I then used a border punch to punch along my photo and then matted it on an orange piece of cardstock, I added it to my layout along with a little strip of ribbon and a little quote. I also left the bottom side of my photo unglued so it can double as a pocket to hide my journaling card!

And to finish off my layout I filled in the sun on the overlay with buttons, and also added little beads to a couple of the flourishes!

I hope you enjoyed todays projects. And once again thank you Nini for being so kind and letting me be part of your fabulous team! I will see you all around the Interactive Community!

Happy Scrapping!

Fiery Fridays - Cranking up the heat in July

For those of you that follow the blog, you'll have noticed that the Fridays of each month have a different "theme" if you will. I was having tougher time with this months and actually had to look back over the various Fridays we've had.

  • Oct. 2008 - Freaky Fridays
  • Nov. 2008 - Fun Fridays
  • Dec. 2008 - Festive Fridays
  • Jan. 2009 - Frosty Fridays
  • Feb 2009 - Flirty Fridays
  • Mar. 2009 - Frugal Fridays
  • Apr 2009 - Fresh Fridays
  • May 2009 - Fanciful Fridays
  • June 2009 - Fun Fridays
  • July 2009 - Fiery Fridays
Needed are suggestions for Aug. and Sept. of this year and then the plan is to start all over again! What kinds of Fridays are there out there that start with "F", I noticed as I put my list together that Fun was used twice, oops, that shouldn't have happened. My bad!

So I'll be looking forward to your suggestions but in the mean time, you really should check out the new Paper Company Woodland Whimsy line that is ready for pre-order! They'll be shipping this month and they are adorable.

A complete line of goodies from a specialty paper bundle to stamps to brads. The little critters are too cute for words, although there are a number that come to mind when I see them. Adorable. Cute. Must have! to name a few *lol*

So put on your thinking caps and let me know what kind of Fridays we should be having for the next few months. Till next week!

Another Sweet & Yummy Blog Candy! Giveaway!!! CLOSED

Hey people!!!

I'm really bad at keeping secrets remember my previous blog candy which is still on by the way *lol* well I mentioned that my next giveaway had the honor to win THE BEST of class and innovations award presented to them by the CHA... If you guessed that it was Fiskars Push & Print Stamp Factory then you're absolutely RIGHT!!! YAY :)

So, my dear bloggers up for grabs is a brand new and sealed stamp factory and below you'll find a small description of this awesome tool:

Paper crafters and scrapbookers rejoice! Fiskars is coming out with a cleaner, crisper, time-saving method to do your stamping. Fiskars' new patent pending device is called the Push and Print Stamp Factory and it just won Best Of Class for Scrapbooking and Paper Crafting Innovation from the Craft and Hobby Association.

The Push and Print Stamp Factory allows the paper crafter to insert any clear acrylic stamp into the "factory." Then, the crafter can select any one of Fiskars' ink pads into the unit below the stamp, and lock it into place. There is no self-inking necessary. The Factory does the inking for you each time you push down on the unit.

Here's a video from Fiskars... This video speaks better than words:

The rules are the same:

Please leave a comment on this post, only one entry per person!

Post a link about this blog candy on your blog or website and don't forget to leave the link of your blog, and if you don't have one, just spread the word out ok!

I'll pay for shipping anywhere in the world so everyone could participate! I will be using Random.org to draw the lucky winner. This yummy candy ends July 21st!

Hugs,
