Quick talk on Prima's Christmas Fancy Hybrid (RFH) CD - Parlons du CD Hybride de Prima Marketing

Hello Ladies,
I spent last night playing around with Prima's new Christmas Fancy Hybrid CD, it was a ton of fun! Christmas Fancy is spankin' new line it's ornate and unique, vibrant and versatile, just the perfect mix of traditional holiday imagery and delightful colors and patterns to backdrop all of your special holiday moments, memories and smiles! If you haven't got your copy, hurry these are HOT HOT HOT I tell ya!

What even more amazing is that not all of the digital products in this CD are holidayish... meaning you could even use these patterns for all year round projects! That's a BIG plus in my book! I love FRESH and this one is just screaming to be worked on, also I'd like to point out that you really don't need Adobe Photoshop Elements (to use this CD, I used an old and discontinued version of Microsoft Digital Image Suite software which worked as GREAT!

Coordinates perfectly with I'd say all of Prima's physical products! Here's a sample of a page that you can add your own photos, customize with both digital and physical embellishments and voila a perfect hybrid layout ready for printing.

Fun Fridays - Tea anyone?

This week we're looking at Amy Butler's K&Co. Lotus Tea Box collection. First off, it's so pretty! Pictures can NOT do it justice. There are glittered pages, flocked pages (that scream to be touched!) and foiled pages. The designs are gorgeous and I knew before I even had the paper in my hands what my first page would be.

Over the summer I had taken pictures with my family when we went to St. Joseph's Oratory and there were a few with my sister that I loved, so I used those. I had played around with colour (again) in photoshop to make her t-shirt and cap "pop". She's the best little sister anyone could ask for.

I had the paper pack and the ephemera box of die cuts to work with, so my layout actually used letters from my stash. The die cuts are adorable, colours that are bright yet subdued (not sure how that works out) and did I say adorable? So in I went, getting lost in family photos. I'm sure I"ll be using this for more family layouts as it works so well.

So overall. Pretty, adorable, gorgeous! I love this set and those that would know me wouldn't probably think that that's right, but I LOVE it! Go check out the other items available too.

What do the pages inspire in you and what would you use them for? Enquiring minds want to know!

Problem with comments - Fixed

We heard from you that there were issues with leaving anonymous or unregistered comments. It's been fixed, so as of now, you do not have to be a registered user to leave a comment. Hopefully that will help some of you out there who may have wanted to leave a comment but didn't want to register.

Sorry about that, we didn't realise the blog was set that way.

Phew, glad to know it's been fixed... maybe now we'll hear more from you guys!

Times running out...

Hey guys,

hope you've all had a wonderful weekend! I watched Mamma Mia! twice on Saturday with my DH and on Sunday with my folks. It truly was a beautiful movie, it got rated 7/10 on IMBD which is pretty good. It had all of ABBA's top hits!

I am so in love with Pierce Brosnan, I must also tell you that he has absolutely no singing talent but it's just so refreshing to watch him, he's so darn cute!
Moving on... we'll be accepting all contest entries today and tomorrow so this is your last chance to win those awesome prizes! We've got a GREAT RAK so come on ladies, speak up tell us about your last selfless act... that's all you gotta to... Have a good one, ciao for now! ~ Nini :)

Fun Fridays - Speak up, don't be shy!

Happy Friday everyone! I got so caught up in my week that I actually forgot about my post... eek! What will Nini say???

First off, I want to remind everyone that there are only a few days left in the current poll, don't forget to vote. Right now of course it looks like readers want monthly kits and this is absolutely great! I know that Nini has got some great ideas planned for December, so you'll need to keep checking back to see what she's going to offer you. You won't be disappointed though, I never am.

Secondly, the most recent post was about a RAK and the only way you are going to have a chance to get it is to post a comment. Tell us about your most RAK and you could have that great collection sent your way :-)

And lastly, this blog may only have a couple people who write posts, but we need YOUR input and feedback so we'll know what you want. Without you, the readers, telling us what you'd like to see, we could be going in a completely opposite direction as to what you want and that would be such a shame. As far as I can tell you don't need to register to post a comment, it can be completely anonymous if you want it to be.

So I've decided that my post today is going to be a fun one that needs your input. I'd like all that read this, to post a comment telling us something about yourself, ask us something if you want, tell us your favorite colour... anything. You can tell us a joke, remember to keep it PG as there may be younger readers, tell us something you saw recently that made you happy. Really, anything. Tell us what you'd like to see if that's what tickles your fancy. Don't let Nini and I be the only ones that are posting comments to each other, we write enough emails as it is *lol*

I'll start : My favourite holiday is
Halloween (see pumpkin to the right) , my favourite colours are orange, green (note the scarf) and purple and I love to watch vampire tv shows and movies. Spooky enough for you?

Now, it's your turn! We want to know something... anything, c'mon you know you want to!

RAKs anyone? ~ A more personal note...

Howdy! How has your day been today!? My day has been a complete disaster let me tell you why... My hubby, Frank works the graveyard shift, he basically leaves around 9 PM and comes home 'round 8 AM, honestly he can't get a good "mornings" sleep, with our talking GSD Nikko, yes he's really a talking one, plus Chancho who barks and howls like crazy... and finally our son Davian aka "Devil" who gets so excited when his "daddy" comes home from work, he won't stop calling him over and over again... he has never called his father dad, daddy or heck I dont know Daddy-O he calls his father and I quote "sunny". That's not all he has never called me mom, mommy, or mama... he calls me "ninu" how weird and cute is that?! Back to my story, Frank can't sleep I haven't slept much because Davian took an extra long nap last night which was good for Frank (so he could sleep in a bit before leaving for work) but not so good for me since I had to watch Davian until 3 AM this morning and he woke up at 7:15, I haven't had much sleep... The result I'm DEAD for the day! Well that's life right! :)

Anyways.... enough whining for today and let's move onto something a bit more fun!

RAKs Anyone???

A random act of kindness is a purportedly selfless act performed by a person or persons wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual or in some cases even an animal. There will generally be no reason other than to make people smile, or be happier. Either spontaneous or planned in advance, random acts of kindness are encouraged by various communities.
I have collected lots of scrapbooking and stamping items during the years... My own personal inventory boy do I have bins and boxes of them LOL, few new releases here and there... 'Tis the season to be jolly... and I'm more than jolly I'm in the giving mood!!! If you care for a RAK simply comment on this post by telling us:

What was the last selfless act you did to make something, or someone, happy?

Here's what's included in my scrapping RAK! I will be doing this the old fashioned way, all you're names will go into a hat and I'll make Frank or Davian pick one, the lucky RAK winner will be announced next Thursday 27/11 :) Remember this RAK is for anyone and everyone!!!

Thank you for your time and friendship, happy scrapping! ~ Nini

Fun Fridays - Fall is falling away

It's that time of year when the air turns crisp and leaves have fallen. Halloween has come and gone and there is the lull between now and the full force of having Christmas upon us. The trees are bare, the skies are grey and the light is weaker.

In the next few weeks most of us gear up for Christmas, some for other holidays. The lights and candles get put up and the mood starts to change. If you're in the US, you've still got Thanksgiving to look forward to, with turkey, pumpkin pie and various other seasonal goodies. Don't forget there are still some K&Co. Thanksgiving items that you can order in time for your celebrations!

Basic Grey has a great line, Offbeat, that's perfect for fall and Thanksgiving layouts. Clean, crisp colours and a great variety of embellishments. These items look even better in person, trust me on this I have one of their lines and everything rocks. Best of all, they're on SALE! Get them before they're gone.

Before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season has you on your feet 24/7 take a scrapping break, put your fall memories on a page so you won't feel so overwhelmed when January comes around and you're trying to catch up.

Tim Holtz - Ranger Ink - Distress Crackle Paint

Howdy ladies! We've just added Tim Holtz Crackle paint which is a unique one-step paint that cracks as it dries. With a convenient, built-in applicator brush, it adds an instant aging to cardstock, chipboard, paper mache projects and more!

This paint is really fabulous to use on projects in a wide variety of styles making it a very flexible product. I just love the texture it adds, using a thin layer of paint gives a subtle crackle effect and a generous stroke of paint gives a mighty crackling effect, which is great to use on a bigger art surface. Once you are done painting and drying, you have a beautiful finish all on its own however, still alter it a bit further.

Remember to store it upright and make sure the cap is sealed properly, the paint is meant to be thick so don't be shocked once you open it for the first time, however furter in time you may notice that the paint could become unmanageably thick you can always sprinkle in a few drops of water which gets it back to its usual texture! Do not worry the water will not harm the crackeling component!

Fun Fridays - Think outside the Book

Sorry for this being later in the day, time flew away from me and it was hard to catch up!

It's easy to get lost in the sea of the everyday, the sameness of the page. We tend to work with books either of 12"x12" or 8"x8" size. Some of us venture outside that realm with accordian books, matchbook albums and shape albums. We scrap to preserve memories and to journal our everyday activities.

But I wanted to step outside of that, I'm a bit of a self-confessed geek, ok I admit it, I'm more than just a bit of a geek. I love my books, films and tv shows that are within the science fiction and fantasy genre. I get together with friends to play games based within those realms and we have fun, it's a nice way to get away from it all.

We recently started a game that's new to me, I surprisingly have never played D&D before (that's Dungeons and Dragons to the uninitiated) and I was so excited about playing a character that performs spells. I'm a wizard and I get to carry around a spell book, in the game of course and not every day. I decided that for fun I'd actually scrap one, put together a book that I can take to the game and it will help organise all that my character can do! I decided to think outside the book and create my own.

It's 8"x12" and I have put it together from scratch. I've used K&Co. Remake cardstock paper pads as my starting point with the Basic Grey Ambrosia line as my colourful additions. It's a work in progress and when it's done I hope to be proud of what I was able to accomplish.

It's going to not only have to be fun to look at but functional, this would be the only time I'd be willing to cover my work in packing tape to keep it from being damaged. Normally that would be a big no-no! Since this book will actually be used, I can't afford to have it damaged after spending time building it from scratch and making it look nice.

So as I step away from the everyday in more ways than one I ask you, how do YOU think outside the book?

Fiskars Award Winning Push & Print Stamp Factory - Coming Soon!

Fiskars has a brand new award winning tool- it's called the Push & Print Stamp factory. There are also special ink pads made for it and stamp sets as well. However any acrylic stamp will work with this wonderful tool. This tool works just like any other self-inking stamp, except much better! The ink pads and stamps can be removed and changed so that this tool can help you stamp, stamp, stamp to your hearts content. The possibilities for creative fun are endless, and the tool is simple and easy to use.
There are grooves on the back of the stamp pads where you can insert into the tool, and likewise the stamping plate has grooves and it slides in and out of the tool for cleaning or stamp placement.
In addition to the easily removable plate and ink pads, there are two spots where you can lock the plate in place. The first allows you to remove and/or change the ink pad. The second locks so that the stamping surface is facing down and you can position it over your paper, remove stamps, or anything else you need to do. To release simply press in on the sides (where blue levers are that keep it locked).

To use the push & print Stamp Factory you can either place stamps on the plate directly, or place them on a piece of paper and have the tool pick them up for you!

When inking multiple stamps sometimes it is helpful to press the plates together a little extra. Once you have the stamp and ink set up you can stamp again, and again, and again!

Moms

I once heard a great quote in a movie and traced it back further than I expected : Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children. ~William Makepeace Thackeray

For most of us, they are the most important women in our lives. Moms are everywhere. We are moms, we have moms, we are momma wannabes. Even as adults we are still the children of our moms.

Posh Designs owner, Nini is a mom but in this layout, she reflects upon her own mom, and quite beautifully I might add.

Having used a variety of items for this layout we'll take a closer look at just a few.

Prima Whispers
She's used a few around the edges of her picture
Prima Frillies Using just one to add punch and colour

When looking to add embellishments to your layouts, take a moment to think about what reflects the person in the picture or in some cases the event.

If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden. ~Attributed to Claudia Ghandi

Piggy Tale Pig Tail Springs
What a great way to add dimension to a layout! At only $3.99, it's also easy on the pocketbook.

This is a fun way to make your pictures "pop". Think outside the box or in this case off the page. 3-D layouts are a great way to preserve your memories and keep them fun.

Prima Say it Crystals and Kaiser Craft Pearls

Both items add a little "bling" to your layouts and don't you think that every mom deserves a little bling?

So I leave you with one last thought from Oscar Wilde : All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his. ~ The Importance of Being Earnest, 1895

Fun Fridays in November!

Good morning to all our readers!

First off, apologies for not giving you the final installment of Freaky Fridays in October this past week. Unfortunately, it seems that with Halloween looming, my week had gone to the firey pits of the netherworld and didn't cease till, from what I can tell, this morning. I had no internet service till later on Friday and have been under the weather. But all that has changed after a very full night of shut eye!

So this month, we give you, Fun Fridays!!! We're gearing up for the holidays, of which there are many. We'll be looking at new releases (you spoke, we listened), holiday items, we haven't forgotten that our American readers will be celebrating Thanksgiving this month as well as having their elections this coming week! We'll be getting ready for Christmas Posh Designs style, so stay tuned!

Look for a new poll this coming week and don't forget to place your vote when you see it.
