Fanciful Fridays - Happy Memorial Day!

Although Posh Designs is based in Canada, we know that we have many American customers and wish to wish them a good long weekend!

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 25 in 2009). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the civil war), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action.

After celebrating with the family, why not scrap some of those great pictures that you know you took during the day! Craft project : Memorial Day star wreath

Supplies needed :

Red, white and blue cardstock

A paper plate

Scissors

Adhesive

Optional - glitter, brads, buttons

1. Cut a large hole in the plate, depending on the size of the plate make the width of the base of the wreath anywhere from 1" - 2".
2. Cut out many stars from the cardstock, you can shake things up a little and make them various sizes if you want.
3. Adhere the stars to the paper plate.
4. Finish by adding any embellishments you desire, whether it's glitter, brads or buttons.

There are many sites with various kid friendly Memorial Day crafts, this was just one I saw and thought it looked fun. I hadn't had a chance to make any of them due to time constraints at home, but if you decide to make any, please post pictures on the community site, we'd love to see your creations!
